The Soil & Water Conservation District can provide access to you and your research team to its properties on Eagles Island or Conservation Easement properties. Contact the office at (910) 798-7130 to learn more.

Before you begin this form, be sure to prepare and have access to the following documents:

  • Your Project Overview (including proposed dates and project description)
  • Permits – State & Federal (if applicable)
  • PDF Map of the Study Area
  • Resume / CV of the Principal Investigator
  • Liability Waiver

Research Activity Permit Request Form

To gain access and perform research on any New Hanover Soil & Water Conservation District property, this form must be completed and approved by the District Board of Supervisors.

Project Information

Submit a project synopsis, including purpose (graduate thesis, independent study, etc.), specific objectives, and complete methodology. Your methodology should include how/where you will be accessing the site, time of day, and a description of equipment to be used. If applicable, include a species list and the name and address of the proposed curatorial facility. If your project involves ground or wildlife disturbance, estimate the amount, location and duration.
